Bascially Absent

Here’s the shotguns used tonight. Lots of restraint shown:

Summary of the night (August 18th, 2014):

There were many arrests throughout the night. Water bottles and other objects were thrown at police, and after gunshots rang out near the QuikTrip, police began firing smoke and gas indiscriminately. There have been reports of white anarchist agitators from out of town, provoking police.

Many protesters ran, terrified, coughing. Journalists were caught in the gas: one canister rolled right under a photographer, who collapsed from it. Fires and bricks were used by residents to try and keep back police.

Police began clearing out the street, ordering anyone who wasn’t credentialed media to leave or be faced with arrest. When one reporter (who is livestreaming the events and has a camera on him) explained he lost his credentials while being fired at and showed his PRESS patch instead, officer told him “this doesn’t mean shit” while ripping the journalist’s PRESS patch off of his vest and throwing it to the ground.

Police formed two lines and began moving forward. A handful of protesters got caught between the lines, trapped but repeatedly told to get out. Among them, WaPo reporter Wesley Lowery reports that the entire neighbourhood has barriers and many people are unable to get home.

SWAT teams have begun doing tactical sweeps and media were ordered away.

Amnesty International was also on the ground tonight and were kicked out by police. Currently, AI is highly critical of the US.

There are still a few people trapped, it appears, including a few reporters, who are tweeting that they’re being mercilessly gassed:

And here’s an image of what it looks like when they fire gas:

Currently waiting for a presser from Captain Johnson, who was seen tonight attempting to keep peace with no helmet/mask/gear.

VERIFIED FUNDRAISERS:

aforementioned #operationhelporhush: the starter’s twitterteepsring shop, amazon wishlist, paypal

and Michael Brown’s Memorial Fund

Feed the Students of Ferguson (source: starter’s twitter St. Louis Foodbank Confirmation)

i have been seeing a lot of different links for different places to donate for bail and legal fees, but i haven’t been able to find anything on whether or not the funds have actually been going towards helping out the people of ferguson so

if you know of any more please add and spread them and if in doubt remember to google first

kropotkindersurprise:

Two ways of dealing with tear gas grenades from comrades in Turkey: Either submerge them in water. Make sure you can close off the container cause the gas will still spread for a while. Or throw them in the fire so the gas burns off before it can spread.

If you cant attend life drawing sessions. This is the best thing for you

Let me show you something I recently found : Croquis Cafe!

You get to see models of different colors and shapes in a life drawing setting. They move and breath while posing (breathing like in real life :O) ambient music is playing in the background and you have 1, 2  and 5 minute sessions. I find it very helpful , you should try it.

Everyone needs to have their eyes on the Ferguson stream right now.

There is tear gas being fired at the crowds and it is not even curfew yet.

The person running the livestream had a cop walk up to him, point his gun at him, and tell him to ‘turn off that light or I will fucking shoot you with this.’

They did that to a member of the media. A man holding a camera, surrounded by other media. That is how brazen and uncaring they are.

Watch this. Witness it. See what they are doing in our country.

There are officers in full camo and body armor, military grade gear out there.

I thought they were national guard but their vests read ‘POLICE’ on the back.

The police just informed the media that there have been shots fired. And you can hear them as well.

City police, sheriff, and highway patrol are all on scene. I am not sure who is in the military gear.

They again tonight have the media corralled back out of sight of the protesters. So you can hear the tear gas and the shots, but conveniently cannot see them.

Do not think that is not deliberate. I saw many things I know that police are practiced in and plan thoroughly performed both tonight and last night. This is planned out like a chess game to hide the brutality.

Here is a link to a second stream if you want another perspective.

Ignore the chatroom at all costs too

White “allies”

yup.

But if it was “white power” she’d be racist and probably beat. But you know, it’s whatever.

Black power ≠ white power
Black power = Resistance. A response to the abuse and subjugation of white supremacy. Recognizing the humanity of Blackness. Black people uplifting themselves from the margins. A rallying cry of self-love, self-actualization and autonomy. Black power does not mean the subjugation and abuse or torment of white people. It has never meant this and it never will. Show me the examples of “Black power” chants stripping whites of anything.
white power = white supremacy, subjugation, abuse and torment of everyone not white. Anywhere chants of “white power” ring, hatred follows behind. Look no further than the people who scream “white power” and why they say it.
This stuff is not hard to understand or figure out.
The fact that a white woman is in that Ferguson crowd unharmed is proof positive that a chant of “Black power” is not about dehumanizing, abusing, torturing or subjugating white people. Black people are not even in the position to do that.
On the other hand, ask yourself, what would happen to a lone Black person in a crowd of white supremacists chanting “white power”? Would that black person be safe?
The ignorant think “Black power” means enacting to white people what “white power” has enacted to Black people.
